“You’re a slut!”

“Ho!”

This is what a “friend” of mine said to me in college while we were sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch. It was the first time in my life I had been called such a thing or even had it insinuated upon me. I had done nothing to provoke such harsh words to escape her mouth. I merely sat quietly eating my lunch. Before that day, that word didn’t exist in my world. Before that day, I always just considered myself to be a girl who wasn’t a virgin. Before that day, being a virgin didn’t equal “better” and not being a virgin didn’t equal “less than a virgin”. In my mind, it was simply you had sex or you haven’t had sex yet. But thanks to growing up in the south, a region drenched in the sexist Abrahamic patriarchal Christian preachings, I quickly learned the difference.

No, I didn’t slap her. No, I didn’t shove my mashed potatoes down her throat. No, I didn’t stab her in the eye with the very fork I was eating with. I didn’t do any of the things I should have done. I just sat there in shock from her forwardness while she smirked and laughed. I had two “friends” in college who claimed to be virgins and turned their nose up at me saying they had “Christian values”. These are the very two friends who made my life a living hell and bullied me for a majority of my college years. They made clear that I knew they were better than me because they were virgins and I was less because I wasn’t a virgin and I wasn’t a Christian. Apparently, according to Gods teachings, it’s ok to be a bully and it’s ok to judge others and gossip just so long as you are a “pure virgin”. This particular girl, however, the one who called me a ho was not a virgin and she herself was the laughing stock among the college cliques as being a ho herself.

Every time I hear the words “slut”, “whore”, “ho”, or any other degrading form of insults purely directed at women and it’s not meant in a light, joking manner, I instantly label that person as being uneducated. However, surprisingly (and, in another way, not surprising due to brainwashed mainstream culture), the main people who use these words are in fact the very people who the modern use of the words were created to hurt: women.

Some of you may be wondering, “Am I a slut?” so I decided to set up a productive survey to let you know the answer starting with the question below.

Are you a girl?

If you answered yes to the above question then, yes, you are a slut.

Every girl in this world is a slut. There is no special code to follow to be a slut and you don’t even have to have sex to be a slut. As a girl, every little thing you do (or have not ever done, but just had people spread rumors about you) could easily deem you slut worthy.

***Major sarcasm use below this line.

To clarify things, here is a list of all the things that gives one a ticket into the slut club:

1. Wearing tight pants. Now, let’s get this straight. Both “provocative” and “tightness” of clothing are purely subjective. I’ve worn clothes which I thought were loose when someone else considered them to be tight. “Provocative” could be wearing short sleeved shirts, shorts, flip flops exposing your toes, exposing your midriff, exposing your hair or face. “Provocative” is only what you make it and is solely based on what your culture deems as inappropriate. In Saudi Arabia’s eyes, every girl in America is a slut.

2. Wear low cut shirts. Majority vote would say this means showing any form of cleavage. The amount of cleavage shown is also a factor. Depending on what environment you grew up in, this could also include collar bones.

3. Have male friends. Especially if you’re ever alone with them. Being a tomboy instantly makes you a slut.

4. Wear make-up. Whore. Why would you want so much attention? You must want to get raped.

5. Your hairstyle. Especially if it’s blonde or dyed an unordinary color. Yes, even a woman’s hairstyle determines whether she is a slut or not. Working as a cam girl, a man literally told me he doesn’t like girls who wear pigtails because it looks too slutty.

6. Being in a man’s house or car. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had sex with the guy or not. Shit, you might as well have sex with him because everyone’s going to gossip about it and assume that you did.

7. Having a man sit on your bed. Yes, even if there are no other seats in the room. Him sitting on your bed is an automatic invitation for sex.

8. Tattoo’s. Instant slut approval. It doesn’t really matter where the tattoo is placed on your body. Its placement will only speed up your placement into the slut club or slow it down, but, all in all, no matter how fast you get there, you’re still a part of the slut club.

9. Talking/Writing about sex. Women should never be open about their sexuality. It should always be private. So, even if you’ve never had sex, if you talk about it, you’re a slut.

10. Being attractive. She’s asking for it.

11. Having big breasts or a big butt. You don’t even have to show them off. You just simply have to have them.

12. Going to parties/clubs. Just looking for trouble.

13. Dancing. Too much gyrating of the hips.

14. If you’ve had sex. It doesn’t matter how many people you’ve had sex with. All that matters is you’ve had sex.

15. Your underwear. Wearing thongs instantly makes you a ho. Also, wearing non-white underwear instantly means you’ve had sex.

16. Kissing. For all you girls who had their first kiss as the age of 6, guess what? You joined the slut club at age 6.

17. Hugging. Don’t get too close, girlie. Too much contact will speed up your application process into the ho club.

18. Smiling at a man. She’s obviously flirting.

19. Showing your hair/face. In some cultures, this is of the utmost importance.

20. Being publicly drunk or drinking in general. Partaking of alcoholic beverages instantly means you have no morals.

21. Smoking. Instantly yells, “HEY GUYS! I LOVE SEX!”

22. Wearing flip flops or any form of foot wear exposing ones feet. Obviously looking to arouse men with a foot fetish. Especially if she wears toe rings. Who the hell wears toe rings? A girl who wants a dick inside her, that’s who.

23. Cursing. Having a potty mouth is not feminine and only sluts speak with such confidence.

24. Animal printed items. This instantly gives off the image that you are the wild, free spirited type who gives it up on the first date.

25. Tanning. You just opened up a can of instant slut. Especially if you’re blonde and tanned. That instantly saves you a spot in the slut club. Here, we’ll give you two tickets into the slut club for trying so hard.

26. Wearing high heels. Obvious attention seeker is obvious.

27. Having piercings. Basically the same as tattoos. The placement of your piercing either speeds up or slows down your placement into the slut club, but, ultimately, you’re getting into the slut club either way regardless of how fast you got there. Having a navel piercing instantly gives you two free tickets into the slut club.

All of these things, in society’s eyes makes it ok to call a girl a slut and all of these are legitimate reasons as to why girls have been labeled as sluts at one time or another. This includes at least 95% of all girls within America (if not, more). Now that we’ve cleared that up and you’ve come to the fact that you are indeed a slut- congratulations! Welcome to the ho club!

Now, for being a member of this club here is a list of things allowed to be done to you solely based on society’s expectations:

1. It’s ok to bully a slut. She deserves it.

2. It’s acceptable to call her a slut, whore, or any demeaning term directed towards women. Always make sure to remind her that she’s a slut because she totally doesn’t know.

3. It’s ok to murder a slut. This is widely known throughout the world in the form of honor killings.

4. It’s ok to rape sluts. If a girl is dressed in a way you deem as being too provocative, it’s perfectly ok to have your way with her because that to you basically translates into “yes”.

If you’re still confused and find yourself saying one of the following statements, I decided to answer you and further bring clarity to this dire situation.

1. I’m a virgin so this doesn’t pertain to me.

WRONG! Sweetie, you were deemed a slut as soon as you came out your momma’s vagina and the doctor said “It’s a girl!” Did you not read any of the things above? Being a virgin does not save you from being a member of the slut club. Du’a Khalil Aswad, Katya Koren, Phoebe Prince, and many, many other girls could yell in protest to that statement if they were still alive.

All three of these girls were either bullied to death or murdered solely because they were assumed to be promiscuous and two of them were knowingly virgins. I’m not sure is Katya was a virgin, but her death had absolutely nothing to do with whether she was a virgin or not and mainly just because of the way she dressed. Of course, the death of Du’a Khalil also had to do with her mixing religions, but other articles of this same story also mention that she brought shame to her family for associating with a boy period regardless of his religion. And this is only a mere three girls that I chose to speak of; there are many, MANY more girls dying every day because of slut shaming.

2. I’ve only had sex with one person. Sally is obviously a slut because she’s slept with 10 different guys!

WRONG! It doesn’t matter how many people you’ve slept with. All that matters is you’ve slept with someone. Sally is no more of a slut than you are. I still remember the time in college when a guy had a big crush on me so he sat with me at lunch one day uninvited. The very first thing he asked me as soon as he sat down was, “Are you a virgin?” I could have told him the obvious answer “none of your business”, but I never tried to hide the fact that I wasn’t a virgin because I wasn’t ashamed of it so I told him the honest answer “no”. He got an upset look on his face and immediately stood up and left me sitting at the table alone. Please keep in mind that this said guy was an openly known flirt. Sorry if you’re offended by this, but I’m going to come out and say it: Christian men and any man who is a follower of one of the three leading Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are usually the main ones who are firm believers in the double standard. It doesn’t matter “how many”, the only answer that matters is a “yes” or a “no”.

3. I understand, but I believe anyone is a slut if they sleep around a lot whether they’re a man or a woman.

WRONG! I think it’s pretty much common knowledge in society that virginity and suppression of sexuality in general are mostly (if not always) pushed upon women, not men. Therefore, the “slut” label always gets thrown onto girls. How many times have you ever heard of a man being bullied or being called a “slut”? If you say you have, compare that to the amount of women you’ve witnessed being bullied for the same reason and I’m sure the numbers will triple or else someone is lying here. Also, what constitutes as “a lot”? “A lot” is solely based on one’s own personal opinion. Some people think you’re a slut if you’ve slept with more than 10 people, others think you’re a slut if you’ve slept with more than 3 people, and then some think you’re a slut if you’ve slept with more than one person. So, in actuality, you are the very ‘slut’ you are condemning in someone else’s mind. If a man is ever called a slut, he’s usually always called the less harsh version of slut: “Man whore” or “ladies man” or “player”.

In short, when you call a girl a ‘slut’, as both of you being women, you are essentially calling yourself a slut and you in turn are helping to contribute to the murder, suicide, and rape of hundreds of thousands of girls all over the world.

Have fun with that.

If you’re still confused or outright blatantly refuse to believe any of this, there is no help for you.
